Kinross Golf Club - Ladies' Section

Welcome to Kinross Golf Club Ladies section. The lady members of Kinross Golf club are an eclectic group of ladies from different walks of life, with different skill levels of golf, some veterans that have been playing for years and some that have only just started. But the amazing thing about the game of golf is it is a really good leveller. So, no matter what stage of life you are at or what level of golf you are at there will always be someone for you to play with, to aspire to and to encourage.

We are playing golf during unusual times. The coronavirus pandemic has sent us all running home but slowly we are returning to the game albeit a little cautiously. With social distancing rules and awareness and some new local golf rules we can enjoy the game with a friend or with a member of our own household.

During a time of such worry and stress the game of golf can become your refuge from mental health and physical health issues. Nothing quite beats being outdoors in large open spaces to open up your mind and take you away from yourself. The game of golf is so all encompassing it requires so much concentrating that there is little space in your head for anything else. And so for those small hours that you are on the course you can transport yourself away to a different world.

We at Kinross run are a friendly and sociable group and new members, with or without a handicap, are warmly welcomed into the section. If you wish to have a handicap, you will find that Kinross Ladies will certainly help and encourage you to do this.

Ladies' Competitions

After an initial trial period of returning to golf after lockdown the club have decided that we are quite safe to run a few competitions. Medal competitions are held most Thursdays and Saturdays with flexible tee times to fit in with busy home, work and family time. Stableford, Matchplay and 9-hole competitions are also planned throughout the season to mix up the formats.

Team Competitions

We normally have team competitions with other clubs such as the Perth & Kinross Ladies' Handicap League and Kinross Ladies were top of the league and winners of the Loch Leven Larder Trophy. We also normally enter a team into the UK wide Ladies' Annodata Matchplay Competition each year and there is an opportunity to play in a Ladies' friendly matches against Milnathort Golf Club. Another annual event is our "Away Day" to play golf at another club but with the current restrictions those games have been postponed until next year.

During The Winter

In the winter months we run a sweep and "Eclectic" over 9 holes on a Thursday and Saturday from October to March. This provides the opportunity to play social golf with a competitive element.

This year’s Focus

This year’s focus has to be staying safe though and keeping to the guidelines. We hope that if we are all sensible and keep to the guidelines then we can keep on playing golf. How we conduct ourselves on and off the golf course will determine our future. So please stay alert and please feel free to contact me for further details whether it’s to join as a member or I can show you around then please do contact me and I look forward to meeting you or playing with you one day on the course.

Best Wishes

Gill Pettigrew

Ladies Captain.
